PNG takes on New Zealand in AFL International cup semi finals

It's semi-finals day at the AFL International Cup in Melbourne, with defending champions Ireland taking on South Africa in one semi, while the runner-up from last time, Papua New Guinea will take on New Zealand.

For the two winning sides not only will they secure a place in the Grand Final, but they'll get the chance to play on the hallowed turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the spiritual home of Australian Rules Football.

Grant Williams is the AFL's head of community football operations and he says standards at the top end of the competition are definitely rising.
