Melbourne Storm launched a remarkable fightback to overcome a 20-4 halftime deficit and claim a golden point thriller 23-22 at Brookvale Oval on Saturday night. Captain Cameron Smith got a field goal on extra time to seal the game.

The grandstand finish did not convey how completely unmatched both sides seemed either side of the halftime siren, with Manly's dominance of the first term completely reversed in the second 40 minutes.

Manly scored three unaswerred tries in the first half and lead 20 - 4.  In the second half, Melbourne back and levelled the score. Melbourne Storm skipper sealed the game with a field goal in extra time.
