Sheffield Eagles Sign PNG International Gary Lo
Sheffield Eagles have further boosted their squad with the arrival of winger Garry Lo.
Lo has agreed a three-year contract with the club and becomes the eighth player to arrive during the close season to join the Eagles' revolution.
Lo, who is a full Papua New Guinea international, will link up with compatriots Mark Mexico and Menzie Yere to add to the Eagles’ PNG contingent.
He is former club team mate of Mexico from a brief stint with Newcastle Thunder, and arrives back on English shores after spells with PNG Hunters and Mount Hagen Eagles.
“Garry is someone we have known about for some time,” director of rugby Mark Aston told www.sheffieldeagles.com
“He is explosive, he is powerful and he can score tries. He is a winger who is still very young, and like a lot of our signings he still has great potential to improve.”
The 22-year-old returns to England and a full-time environment and Aston has backed him to shine as the Eagles look to improve on last season’s third placed finish in the Kingstone Press Championship.
“It didn’t work out at Newcastle for whatever reason but he has real talent and we are excited about working with him,” Aston continued.
“We have three great wingers at the club now with Ryan Millar and Rob Worrincy so we have the competition for places that we are looking for. Our backline has now been significantly strengthened, we have some real quality here and they all bring something different to the side.”
The Eagles have now added George Tyson, Adam Neal, Matty Fozard, Mark Mexico, Scott Wheeldon, Matt James and Dave Hewitt to their ranks for the 2016 season.
