SAM BURGESS has described the decision to ban the shoulder charge from rugby league as ‘c**p’.
The British game is to follow the NRL’s lead after the international federation adopted the new ruling.
A RFL board meeting could rubber-stamp the ending of the shoulder charge this week.
But not one Super League star voted to ban it when asked by players’ union League 13 in pre-season.
South Sydney and England star Burgess, 24, said: “It’s a c**p rule change. Everyone likes to see it. A shoulder charge is split second so now we have to change our whole mindset defensively.”
RFL bosses are worried keeping it may leave them open to legal cases in future.
St Helens’ Jon Wilkin, chairman of League 13, said: “We balloted 305 players and not one player came back and said they were in favour of it being banned.”
