Jarryed Hayne ready to stand up as veteran Blue

As NSW's most experienced player, much is expected of gun fullback Jarryd Hayne.

The Parramatta star is just 25 years old, but with 16 Origins to his name he's one of only two Blues in the current squad, along with skipp
er Paul Gallen, to have cracked double digits in rugby league's toughest arena.

And as the only multiple Brad Fittler medal winner, awarded to the best NSW player of a series, Hayne has proven he's done it before.

Despite the at times unacceptable form of his Eels this season, Hayne has been a shining light - dominating in both attack but more impressively in defence.

It's the sort of form that has former Parramatta and NSW back-rower Nathan Hindmarsh convinced Hayne is primed for a big series.

"He's one of those blokes that's built for Origin," Hindmarsh said.

"16 Origins at just 25 ... that's a lot of experience already.

"What can you say about him? He knows how to play the game.

"He's big, he's powerful and we all know what he can do when he does get in that Blues jersey.

"The level that he plays goes up a notch and I'm sure he'll be there doing his best to win it for the Blues.

"I'll guarantee he'll make more than one break on (Wednesday) night."

Hayne claimed the 2009 Dally M medal on the back of his outstanding offensive play - scoring tries, making breaks and driving the Eels to an unlikely grand final berth.

But in recent weeks Hayne has produced several terrific defensive plays, making miracle try-saving tackles against Brisbane and North Queensland while crunching St George Illawarra's Josh Dugan in monster hits.

"And making those tackles is what Origin is all about," Hindmarsh adds.

"Sometimes those try-savers can win you the games.

"As much as you need to score points you've got to stop them as well.

"Hopefully we don't need to see him use any of those try-savers, but it's good to have someone that's big and strong at fullback.
