Storm coach adamant his best players wont play 9's

Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy is adamant his best players will not feature in the proposed NRL 9's tournament before the season starts next year.

The tournament is expected to replace the All Star game in February, just over two months after the World Cup in England.

Organisers have promised all the competition's big names will be at the tournament.

However, Bellamy insists the only way his World Cup players will feature, is if they are fined or threatened to be kicked out of the NRL.

"I'm pretty sad, to be quite honest, that they're not going ahead with the all-stars game. Might not have thought this way if I hadn't have been in camp with the indigenous boys but I'd say it was one of the most enjoyable weeks in preparation for a footy game I've ever had."

The Storm have up to nine players expected to be involved in the World Cup.
