Whitehaven not in rush to replace PNG International, Jessie Joe Parker
Whitehaven will not rush out to find a replacement for top-try scorer Jessie Joe Parker following his return home to Papua New Guinea. The international centre, who scored 20 tries in 25 appearances this term, played his final game of the season for Haven last week, before flying home due to a family issue.
And coach Dave Woods believes he has options within his squad, with the likes of Chris Fleming keen to cement a place, as well as potentially at Super League partners St Helens.
“At this stage we will keep what we’ve got and also look at Saints, to see if they have players coming back,” Woods said.
“We have some capable replacements who could step in.
“We will see what plans out.”
Fleming has now played on the wing in Haven’s last two matches after missing the previous five games.
