Super League Champions Wigan eyes game against PNG

WIGAN, England: Wigan have held talks about playing Papua New Guinea ahead of the World Club Challenge in Australia.
The Super League champions want to play a warm-up game before they meet Sydney Roosters in the annual showdown.
The WCC will take place on Allianz Stadium on Saturday, February 22, according to reports Down Under.
And it is thought a match against the Kumuls in their capital, Port Moresby, could be on the cards a week earlier on the same weekend when all National Rugby League clubs are involved in the inaugural NRL Nines in Auckland.
Kokopo’s Kalabond oval could be an alternative venue.
Wigan on Monday confirmed their first home game will be against Huddersfield.
All Super League clubs were given permission to confirm their first fixture, ahead of the release of the full schedule later this month.
The double-winners may bring their round one fixture forward to accommodate their tour Down Under.
Wigan famously won the WCC in Brisbane in 1994.
On the same weekend, the Kokopo/Rabaul Gurias will take on the Canterbury Bulldogs in a warm-up at Belmore oval in Bankstown.
