Fijian thrashed by Australia in Rio

The Fiji women’s 7s team will need to beat Colombia in their final pool match of the Rio Olympics women’s 7s competition to seal a spot in the quarterfinals.

Fiji will face Colombia in their final pool match at 4am tomorrow.

The women’s 7s side has recorded one win and one defeat so far.

They beat USA 12‑7 in their opening pool match but were thrashed 36‑0 by Australia in their second pool match.

Fiji is level on 4 points with USA in the Pool A standings and a win against Colombia will book them a quarterfinal spot.

USA have also recorded one win and one defeat so far and will play world champions, Australia in their final pool match.

Australia is already through to the quarterfinals.

Looking at results from the first round of pool matches, France beat Spain 24 7, New Zealand thrashed Kenya 52 0, Great Britain defeated Brazil 29 3, Canada hammered Japan 45 0.

In the second round of pool matches, France beat Kenya 40‑7, New Zealand defeated Spain 31‑5 and Canada thrashed Brazil 38‑0.

Fiji will face Colombia in their final pool match at 4am tomorrow.
