The 26-year-old was supposed to join Doncaster earlier in the year to complete his two-year contract but with the lengthy delay due to travel restrictions, he joined the SP Hunters following an agreement between head coach Matthew Church and Doncaster chief executive Carl Hall.
Boas played his last match with the Hunters in Sunday’s 18-25 round-five Queensland Intrust Super Cup loss to the Burleigh Bears at Pizzey Park on the Gold Coast.
“The season starts next month, so I’m really looking forward to re-joining my club and teammates for the upcoming season,” Boas told The National.
The Kumuls playmaker said he would complete his deal with Doncaster and see what next year would hold for him.
Church said last week that Boas’ inclusion in the Hunters squad had been a great experience for the team and their young halves.
“Watson brings a wealth of experience and competitive nature which is a great learning exercise for our younger halves,” he said.
“We wish him a strong season ahead and thank Doncaster for making this happen.
“He was a pleasure to deal with and had great care for Watson’s situation.
“While we will miss him, what he has been able to teach our halves will leave them in a better place to take over.”
Meanwhile, according to totalrl.com, Hall expects Boas to be fit for Doncaster’s opening clash with the Keighley Cougars on May 9.
