The Panthers continued to apply pressure and were rewarded again in the 35th minute when Alamoti grabbed his second try of the evening. Cleary added the extras to extend the advantage to 12-0. A penalty goal from Cleary in the 29th minute had earlier pushed the Panthers further ahead, giving them a 14-0 buffer at halftime.

The second half, however, belonged to the Broncos. The home side emerged from the break with renewed energy and began their comeback in the 47th minute through a try by Kotoni Staggs. Reece Walsh nailed the conversion to reduce the deficit to 14-6, breathing life back into the contest.

Brisbane’s momentum grew as Xavier Willison stormed over the line in the 69th minute. Although the conversion attempt missed, the Broncos closed the gap to just four points, putting Penrith under immense pressure in the dying stages.

With the crowd on their feet, Deine Mariner delivered the decisive blow in the 75th minute. Adam Reynolds converted the try, handing the Broncos a 16-14 lead and completing a remarkable turnaround against the reigning premiers.

The Panthers pushed desperately in the final moments, but their attempts to regain the lead fell short. Cleary’s one field goal attempt was unsuccessful, leaving Penrith frustrated after letting a substantial lead slip away.

The victory showcased the Broncos’ resilience and determination, sending a strong message to their NRL rivals as the season heats up. For the Panthers, the narrow loss serves as a reminder of the intensity of competition at the top level and the need to maintain composure when under pressure.
