Cook Islands Rugby League name World Cup squad
Cook Islands Rugby League have confirmed their squad for the Rugby League World Cup which kicks off in the United Kingdom next month.
Head coach David Fairleigh has opted for just 22 players, despite being able to name up to 24.
There are 12 from the NRL, including Penrith standoff Issac John, Warriors wing Dominque Peyroux and Newcastle lock Zane Tetevano, with a further six playing in lower divisions across New South Wales.
Wigan’s Anthony Gelling, Bradford’s Keith Lulia and Zeb Taia from the Catalans Dragons are all playing in the UK Super League, while Jono Ford is playing in the French competition for Toulouse.
The Cook Islands will take on the Kiwis in a warm-up match next month in Doncaster before beginning their World Cup campaign against the USA.
