Manly Sea Eagles name extended bench for NRL Grand Final

Manly coach Geoff Toovey has delayed making a final decision on who will replace Richie Fa'aoso in the Sea Eagles' NRL grand final side after naming an extended bench on Tuesday.

Back-up props James Hasson and David Gower were both named as part of a six-man bench for the clash against minor premiers Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, which also includes Peta Hiku as cover for fullback Brett Stewart.

Stewart is not believed to be in any doubt, with Hiku to be joined by either Hasson or Gower in dropping off the bench.

Fa'aoso will miss the decider after fracturing his neck in the preliminary final win over South Sydney last week.

For Hasson, the call-up would complete a memorable debut season.

"It's very sad for Richie that he's missed out but it's going to leave one spot open," Hasson told AAP.

"My initial emotion was obviously feeling for Richie, but the last couple of nights I've just been in and out of sleep just thinking, 'am I going to get this shot?'

"I know if I do get the shot I'm ready and I'm not going to let anybody down."

Hasson said his goal at the start of the year had been to play three top grade games, but selection on Sunday would make it his 13th appearance.

"Playing with these internationals, it helps so much when you're out there, they've been around the block plenty of times, they've done it all before," Hasson said.

"I'll just keep it nice and simple - run hard and tackle harder."

The Roosters meanwhile have named an unchanged side from the one which convincingly beat Newcastle on Saturday night.

Boyd Cordner (ankle) and prop Luke O'Donnell (hamstring) were not named but both could still come into the squad if they are able to prove their fitness later in the week.
