NSW Blues Outclass Maroons with 18-6 Win at Suncorp

New South Wales Blues delivered a commanding 18-6 win over Queensland Maroons in the State of Origin showdown at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium. The Blues capitalized on their early momentum and held off Queensland throughout the match.

Nathan Cleary gave the Blues an early lead with a penalty goal in the 9th minute. This was followed by a dominant run of tries: Zac Lomax scored twice in the 24th and 35th minutes, and Brian To’o added another in the 28th. By halftime, NSW had built a 14-2 cushion over their rivals.

Queensland’s only points in the opening half came through a penalty goal from Valentine Holmes in the 39th minute. They looked to bounce back after the break and managed a lone try from Xavier Coates in the 45th minute, which was not converted.

Despite scoring four tries, the Blues struggled with conversions, missing all four attempts. Queensland also failed to convert their only try but managed to convert their sole penalty goal.

Discipline became a factor as Brian To’o was sent to the sin bin just before halftime. Queensland, however, maintained a clean disciplinary record throughout the game but failed to take advantage of the extra man.

With this result, New South Wales takes a solid lead in the series, leaving Queensland with much to reflect on before the next encounter. The Blues' defense proved too strong, while the Maroons were left frustrated by missed opportunities.
